about

This playful, alternative-folk song is a musical collaboration that expands the globe! As Jacob Rountree was traveling through the Czech Republic in the winter of 2022, he found himself listening to the wonderful sounds of LUNAVES at the Jazz Dock in Prague. The band was kind enough to alter their banter to English for Jacob and his family, the only non local group in the venue. Bonding through the music after the show, Jacob and the band made sure they would keep in touch after his return to the States. Six months later Jacob finished writing and recording the baritone depths of "First Avenue" and decided to reach out to the bands’ violin player, NINA ROSA, to add the wonderfully playful higher frequencies.
Within the week, NINA'S violin recording was emailed from halfway across the world and this completely unique collaboration was formed. With final mix and master by Montana's finest, three time Emmy award winner, LUKE SCHEELER, "First Avenue" has come to life. Listen now for a contemplative sonic journey that leaves you peacefully joyful.

lyrics

Happy was you, happy was me, the distance you place to flirt with free.
Surely the snow will cover your tracks, all your black letters will watch your back. All your black letters will watch your back
Happy was you, happy was me as you go tearing down the street.
Happy was me, happy is you, I took a wrong turn down First Avenue.
Surely the snow will cover my tracks, All those black letters just hold me back. All those black letters just hold me back.
Happy was me, happy is you, I took the long way to get to you.
Happy is me, happy is you, we did work it through and through.
Surely the snow will cover our tracks, All those black letters are in the past. All those black letters are in the past.
Happy is me, happy is you, I belong here and so do you.
